The leaf I used as inspiration for this piece was picked up on a walk while we were at our Fort Worth home. I was drawn to the darker, yet vibrant, tones in the leaf and also to the shape. When I complete the piece, the first color my eyes were drawn to was the color rust, hence the name. But the name goes deeper than just that. I have a wonderful friend whose maiden name was Rust and she has been a constant supporter of me and my dreams over the years. It only seems fitting to name a piece after her.
