Allow me to introduce myself…
Hello! I’m Gretchen Scheidt—an artist, painter, and photographer based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where I live with my husband, my two children, and our three dogs. We also own a historic home in Fort Worth, Texas, and escape there as often as possible, especially during the winter months. I’m a connector at heart, a classic type‑A personality, and a lover of all things nostalgic. Time with my family, friends, and dogs fills me up, but I also cherish quiet moments alone to recharge.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in mass communications with a minor in marketing, and I’ve always been drawn to creative work. My professional path has taken me in many directions—both geographically and career‑wise—but creativity has been the constant thread. From graphic design and interior design to portrait photography, painting, and everything in between, I’m energized by learning, experimenting, and refining my craft through dedication, curiosity, and practice.
As a self‑taught artist, I’ve explored a variety of styles, but I’ve found my truest artistic home in nature and realism. Leaves, in particular, have become my signature subject. I may wander into other themes from time to time, but I always return to them. Their changing forms mirror our own human experiences—cycles of growth, loss, renewal, and resilience. My leaf paintings are ultimately about transformation and the quiet beauty found in imperfection.
